Foundation Brings Girls on the Run Program to Walton

This past Spring, the Foundation sponsored two teams from Walton to participate in the nationally known Girls on the Run and Girls on Track programs. The program, which teaches life skills through interactive lessons and running games, is open to girls in 3rd through 8th grades. The program culminates with the girls completing a celebratory 5K running event in Cooperstown with hundreds of other girls from throughout Central New York.

The goal of the Girls on the Run program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. . More information about Girls on the Run can be found online at http://www.girlsontheruncny.org

Foundation Gives the Gift of Reading

Foundation board members Diane Meredith, Wendy Reid-Jackson, Jessica DelBalso, Melissa Grossmann, Roger Clough, and volunteer Barbara Lister delivered the books to each classroom, where they were greeted by eager young faces who were delighted to be receiving early Christmas presents.

donation from the Foundation’s President Chad Hall enabled the organization to purchase more than 500 new books at the Penguin Publishing Company’s warehouse sale in November and from the Scholastic Book Club program.

The holiday book project was organized by Wendy Reid-Jackson with assistance from Jessica DelBalso, Jessica Backus-Foster, Melissa Grossmann and various staff from Walton Central School.
