A message from the Directors of the
Walton Education Foundation

It is with great enthusiasm and gratitude that we write to share about the Homecoming "Day of Events" that the Walton Education Foundation sponsored on Saturday, September 29, 2012 for WCS alumni and the greater Walton community.

5K Fun Run/Walk
61 people participated in our first annual 5K Fun Run/Walk. It was awesome to see such a great turn out, especially for a first time 5K.  We had moms running and walking with their daughters, fathers running with their sons, parents of toddlers pulling and pushing them along the route in wagons and strollers; families, teachers, friends, students of all ages, and many WCS Alumni participating. Did you run or walk the 5K? Check out your time here: 5K Fun Run/Walk Times

WarriorFest
Equally successful was the WarriorFest, the Foundation's pre-game "tail-gate party" inspired festival, which offered fun for all.

From the giant inflatable obstacle course to the tail-gate inspired eats; the music, face painting, and carnival games; and most importantly the good company of Warriors young and old, the WarriorFest was an event that everyone enjoyed.

The WarriorFest would have been much less festive if not for the generosity of WCS Alumni Rex Latyon of NY Bounce House, Bridgette LePinnet-Hulbert and Katie Covell of The Penguin Cafe; and Cortnie Hannan of Danny's Restaurant. These businesses went above and beyond to ensure that the WarriorFest was a success for the Foundation.

Homecoming Celebration & All-Class Reunion
We ended our "Day of Events" with a Homecoming Celebration and All-Class reunion, which  was a relaxed, informal gathering of community members and alumni, who represented over 50 years worth of WCS graduating classes. The most senior alumni in attendance graduated in 1957 and the most recent graduate represented the class of 2008. Graduates from the 1990's  came the closest to having an Alumnus from each class in a decade, with only the class of 1992 not represented. We enjoyed good conversation, good food, and wonderful hospitality provided by Cortnie Hannan (WCS 1999) and the crew at Danny's Restaurant.

Thank You
The Walton Education Foundation's Directors sponsored the Homecoming "Day of Events" in order to kick off the Foundation’s fundraising initiatives, introduce the Foundation and its goals to the community and WCS Alumni; and to give our community and Alumni some fun ways to celebrate and enjoy Homecoming.

In our small town, putting an event together requires all hands on deck. The Directors of the Foundation would like to offer our most sincere appreciation to all who helped make the Homecoming "Day of Events"  a success.  Businesses, students, teachers, custodians, and other friends from the school; family members, friends, and WCS Alumni all banded together to pull off a  Homecoming Day unlike any enjoyed in Walton to date.

Looking forward
We hope you'll continue to follow the happenings of the Walton Education Foundation as we work to accomplish our goal of bringing more opportunities to Walton's children. In the coming months we'll continue in our efforts to secure funding, through gifts and grants, for an elementary after-school program.

Thank you all for your continued support.
